New Testament Power

New Testament Power

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you…” Acts 1:8

A major stumbling block to many believers is that we live each day as though God were either a future aspect of our lives, a twice-a-week church experience, a source of comfort when circumstances become overwhelming or someone to think about for a few minutes in the morning, or just before bed at night.

To the contrary, God has prepared the perfect scenario with the perfect tools for His followers to be equipped and strengthened to share their faith, fight the devil’s strategies successfully, and shine the light of Jesus Christ in a dark world.

Luke 4:14  “He (Jesus) gave them power and authority to drive out demons and cure diseases…”

Luke 10:19  “I have given you authority…to overcome all the power of the enemy…”

John 14:16 “I will ask the Father and He will give you another counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit who leads into all truth.”

This is a promise from Jesus. He has provided a helper who will be with us forever. Any time, night or day, in any situation, no matter what the circumstance, He is with us as our helper. A special gift of God to all who believe.

Acts 4:33  “And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on all of them.”

Romans 1:16-17  “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

1 Corinthians 1:18  “For to those who are perishing the message of the cross is foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is God’s power.”

2 Corinthians 12:9  “But He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”

Philippians 3:10  “All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings and become like him in his death,”

Ephesians 1:19-20 “And how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world.”

As we struggle with our faith, wondering what the outcome of our problems and challenges will be, perhaps we don’t believe what God says or we don’t know what He says, or we don’t apply what we do know. But as we can clearly see, God Himself has given us all the power we need to face every issue in our lives. God’s power resides within us. Whom should I fear?

2 Timothy 1:7 I am not ruled by fear because the Holy Spirit lives in me and gives me His power, love and self-control

2 Peter 1:3  God’s divine power has given us everything we need to live a truly religious life through our knowledge of the one who called us to share in his own  glory and goodness.
