“Nothing can separate us from His love” ~Romans 8:38
Do you ever have those powerful feelings that overwhelm the Bible teachings of God’s eternal, forgiving love for His followers; Feelings that remind us of our sins— bad choices, gossip, lust, greed and create a feeling of separation from God? As one man said, “Feelings are neither bad nor good. They just are.” We all have feelings that are both bad or good. But, like a stubbed toe, they will pass and should never be the rudder of our ship.
Let’s look at a few Bible verses for encouragement and a reminder of God’s position about leaving or ignoring us:
- Romans 8:38-39 Living Bible (TLB)
“For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us.”
- Romans 10:9 Living Bible (TLB)
“For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
- John 10:27-29 International Children’s Bible (ICB)
“My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never die. And no person can steal them out of my hand. My Father gave my sheep to me. He is greater than all, and no person can steal my sheep out of my Father’s hand.”
- John 6:37-40 Living Bible (TLB)
“But some will come to me—those the Father has given me—and I will never, never reject them. For I have come here from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to have my own way. And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them to eternal life at the Last Day. For it is my Father’s will that everyone who sees his Son and believes on him should have eternal life—that I should raise him at the Last Day.”
- 1 Peter 1:3-7 Living Bible (TLB)
“All honor to God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; for it is his boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again so that we are now members of God’s own family.
Now we live in the hope of eternal life because Christ rose again from the dead. And God has reserved for his children the priceless gift of eternal life; it is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And God, in his mighty power, will make sure that you get there safely to receive it because you are trusting him. It will be yours in that coming last day for all to see.
So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though the going is rough for a while down here. These trials are only to test your faith, to see whether or not it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests gold and purifies it—and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold; so if your faith remains strong after being tried in the test tube of fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day of his return.”
So— when those very strong negative, discouraging feelings arise and demand attention, stand against them by using God’s Word, the Bible. God saved us by our faith, not our performance or goodness. His salvation is FOREVER! Jesus gave His life to qualify as the eternal sacrifice for ALL our sins. Don’t listen to the voice of doom that reminds you of all your failures. Go directly to your knees and confess to God. He has already forgiven them. As J. Vernon McGee used to say about confessing your sins to God, “You might as well tell Him because He knows anyway!”
